Great news! TV3's show Xposé is coming to the Waldorf next week to film some of the period haircuts that people are getting there. I'll be there getting my favorite 1940s bespoke razor cut by Liam. There will be several Rockabilies coming in to show what a great job Linda does on their hair. In general there has been an increase in interest in Rockabilly (of course), but also a huge increase in guys looking for the 1940s haircut. Who walked out of Inglourious Basterds and didn't think Aldo Raine's (aka Brad Pitt) haircut wasn't cool??!! And of course George Clooney (fellow Golden Era fanatic) is the poster boy for the 40s smart haircut!

Hello Betty Darling. Great to hear from you on the blog. Exposé is filming at the Waldorf Thursday Oct 29. I'll be there and will drive there in my Buick. The show will probably air soon after that. I'll post the show right here on the blog once it goes online.

Hi Dewitt, I presume that to be your name. I'm Steve, a teenager who is really fascinated by the era you dedicated your blog to. In saying that, I'd like to ask your help.

I've really gone to see Inglourious Basterds, starring Brad Pitt, and I really liked Pitt's hairstyle in the movie. Most specifically, the part where goes to a movie premiere. I could find no high resolution images or any good quality images for that matter, except this

Hopefully that gives you an idea.

Best,

Steve

Lol, didn't even realize and completely disregarded your reference to Pitt. My bad ;)

Hi Steve. I'm really glad you like the site. Yes the haircut he has in Basterds is very cool.

Seeing as you like this era, you should check out this forum:

Btw Dewitt is a character from Devil in a Blue Dress, played by Tom Sizemore, set in the 1940s.

Haha, I totally forgot the main part of my post. My question; how do you achieve Pitt's style of haircut? How would you and others describe it to a hairdresser?

Hi Steve! Thanks for coming back to the blog. Here's some advice I gave to another poster who had the same question:

"Hi and thanks for your comment. It's a very good question and something that people have said to me before. The best thing to do is to bring in a picture to your barber. You could print off the pictures of Pitt and Clooney for example. You'll want to ask for a definite parting in the hair, with enough hair on top to slick over with a good pomade. Then around the edges it'll be nice and tight. Like a #1 attachment on the clippers. Avoid a step and get the barber to made the fade as blended in as possible. The nearest haircut in marine/military terms would be a "low n' tight" but the '40s cut will be a little longer on top."

I love the haircut that Pitt had in Inglorious Basterds. I'm growing my hair to get it cut like that. Great blog, by the way....
